Atkinson cycle engine and Prius?
Does the Prius use a true Atkinson cycle engine?
If not so, can you explain why the Specs states it is an Atkinson cycle engine?
Also, if you can, describe how this engine is different from a normal four stroke engine.
The original Atkinson cycle engine used a complex system of pushrods and gears to make the compression/power strokes shorter than the intake/expansion strokes. The Prius uses variable valve timing and computer controls to achieve the same end. So it depends
